Painting is more about connecting with myself than an audience
My commercial work is highly deliberate and thought-out, my paintings are more intuitive. The tools and techniques are grounded in the physical, not digital, world. They have been used by artists for hundreds of years. I use all kinds of things when I paint - brushes, rags, pallet knives, even my hands – whatever works to achieve the effect I am after. For me painting is a great counter balance to being on the computer hours at a time. And it is more about connecting with myself than connecting with an audience.
